VPD seeking man for robbery, kidnapping, assault

On July 7, 2020, at 0528 am., officers and detectives with the Valdosta Police Department responded to Hilton Garden Inn, to a 911 call of an armed robbery. The victim reported that an unknown black male came into the business and grabbed money from the cash register. The offender then took the victim from the business against his will, while producing a firearm and demanding property from him.  

On September 23, 2020, at 0147 am., officers and detectives with the Valdosta Police Department responded to another robbery at the Hilton Garden Inn. The victim reported that an unknown black male produced a firearm and demanded money. 

On November 3, 2020, at 0352 am., Valdosta Police Officers and detectives responded to the Hilton Garden Inn, in response to a third armed robbery to the business. The victim reported that an unknown male entered the business and demanded money while pointing a firearm at her. The offender then forced the victim to leave the business with him. The victim was able to get out of the offender’s car and flee on foot.

No injuries were reported in any of the robberies.

Through investigation, detectives have identified that all three of these cases were related. Detectives identified the offender as Steve Vincent Major, and arrest warrants have been obtained for:

  • 4 counts of armed robbery-felony;
  • 2 counts of kidnapping-felony;
  • 1 count of aggravated assault-felony; and 
  • 3 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony-felony.

The Valdosta Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Major. He is to be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows his whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.
