On October 5, 2020, at approximately 11:54 pm, a patrol officer with Valdosta Police Department was conducting traffic enforcement on North Ashley Street when he heard a repeated banging noise in the area. The officer investigated the noise and found it was coming from inside of a carwash in the 1700 block of North Ashley Street. Once backup officers arrived on the scene, they entered the building and found Christopher West. The investigation revealed West was attempting to break into a change machine in an attempt to steal currency. West was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail for burglary (Felony) and possession of tools during the commission of a crime (Felony).
