EVENING REPORTING CENTER FOR JUVENILES OPENS IN VALDOSTA ON AUGUST 13TH WITH RIBBON CUTTING & TOUR

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has partnered with Southwest Key Programs to bring this community-based program to Lowndes County

VALDOSTA, GA— Southwest Key’s Evening Reporting Center, the only program of its kind currently in Lowndes County, will open on Thursday, Aug. 13. The community-based program is designed to provide supervision, with structured activities, for youth at risk of further involvement in the juvenile justice system.

The program was made possible through a partnership with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) will be marked by a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.  Remarks will be given by Georgia DJJ Commissioner Tyrone Oliver and Southwest Key staff.

Following the ceremony, guests will be able to tour the facility.

Please note that organizers will be following COVID-19 precautions during this event, including:

  • Thorough disinfecting procedures between each scheduled tour
  • Limiting invitations for the ribbon cutting
  • Requiring attendees to wear masks
  • Requiring social distancing inside the facility
  • Limiting tours to groups of 5 or fewer
