Valdosta Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on Northside Drive
On Monday, May 18, 2020, the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the report of a fire in an apartment building at 411 Northside Drive. The call was received from dispatch at 6:52 P.M. The first fire unit arrived within four minutes to find smoke and flames coming from the first floor. Firefighters brought the fire under control within fifteen minutes.
Occupants were in the process of evacuating the building when fire units arrived. The damage was confined to one apartment unit. There were no injuries reported. Two occupants were displaced.
Valdosta Police Department and South Georgia Medical Center EMS assisted with on scene operations. A total of seventeen VFD personnel responded to the scene. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking.
