LOWNDES CO., Ga. – Tyler Seacrist, 24, from Valdosta was working in the wood yard of the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in Clyattville the morning of Saturday, November 16, 2019 when a conveyor belt jammed.
According to Sheriff Ashley Paulk, the power didn’t shut off and when the conveyor belt began operating again, Seacrist was thrown into the machinery and was “killed immediately.”
“We don’t see anything criminal so this is for the coroner at this point,” Sheriff Paulk said Monday morning. “There was another man there who witnessed it but it looks like it was just a terrible accident.”
Seacrist was well-known in the local car community and is originally from West Virginia.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Coroner Austin Fiveash are still investigating and no remains have been found at this point, therefore no autopsy is expected.
