VALDOSTA — On Jan. 20, at 4:20 p.m. Valdosta Police Officer Donald Richmond was dragged 750 feet by a vehicle he pulled over. Upon approaching the car, the driver of the vehicle began rolling forward. Richmond grabbed hold of the passengers side door while yelling for the driver to stop.
Richmond was able to radio dispatch for help, he described the driver, passenger, and vehicle before he let go of the door. According the the police report, the car was found at the intersection of University Drive and Seymour Street, abandoned, and with “substances that tested positive for the presence of narcotics.”
Officer Richmond suffered minor injuries to his arms and legs.
The VPD K-9 units performed a search near the area, but had no luck finding the suspects. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
