TALLAHASSEE – The 47th Annual Swamp Stomp Music Festival is returning to the Tallahassee Museum’s outdoor state in July.

Release:

The iconic Swamp Stomp Music Festival lights up the Tallahassee Museum‘s scenic outdoor stage on
Saturday, July 12, from 4 to 9 p.m., continuing a beloved tradition that has united four generations of local families. A staple of the Big Bend’s cultural calendar, the outdoor singer-songwriter festival features Americana, bluegrass, and folk performances by some of the region’s favorite
musicians.

“After 47 years, Swamp Stomp is the longest running music festival in the area, an event that truly celebrates Tallahassee’s music,” says festival organizer and musician Del Suggs. “When you join us under the shade of our ancient canopy of oak trees, you’re experiencing the authentic soundtrack of our community. From familiar favorites to tomorrow’s local legends, every performer embodies the soul of our region’ rich musical heritage. It’s always a joy to hear a performer for the first time and become an instant fan.”

Set among the Museum’s historic buildings and natural landscapes, the outdoor stage creates an intimate atmosphere where music and history converge. Festival goers will also be treated to the Museum’s native wildlife habitats with Florida panthers, red wolves, and more, plus trails and gardens, historic buildings and artifacts, and our aerial obstacle course/zipline experience Tree-to-Tree Adventures. We invite folks of all ages to test their agility and strength—all while safely clipped into the adventure course. It’s a fresh perspective!

“Events like Swamp Stomp perfectly embody our mission to connect people with North Florida’s natural and cultural heritage,” says CEO/Director Russell Daws. “There’s something magical about experiencing live music in this setting, surrounded by towering oaks and historic structures that have witnessed decades of our community’s story.”

When hunger strikes, the Museum’s Trail Break Café offers a delicious selection of festival fare. Available to 21+ attendees will be refreshing beverages, including a cocktail bar (the perfect complement to a summer evening of music and dancing!)

“What began over four decades ago has evolved into one of Tallahassee’s most cherished traditions,” Suggs reflects.
“We see families where grandparents first attended as young adults now bringing their grandchildren. That’s the magic of Swamp Stomp and the Tallahassee Museum—they’re part of our community’s DNA.” Del and the entire Museum team hope to see you at the Museum on July 12!

Discover Florida’s Wild Side – Come face to face with 50 different species of native wildlife including black bears, red wolves, and Florida panthers, in habitats designed to mirror the ecosystems they call home. For many, this may be the only chance to connect so closely with these incredible species. Our wildlife trail deepens community understanding of our state, sparks curiosity in young minds, and fosters connection to Florida’s natural world.

Step Back In Time – History comes alive on our pioneer farm, where visitors don’t just see the past—they experience it. From historic buildings to hands-on demonstrations and heritage breed farm animals, every element tells the story of early Floridians who lived in harmony with the land. These spaces preserve local history and invite new generations to appreciate the roots of our regional identity.

Take Adventure To New Heights – Zip through the treetops with our Tree-to-Tree Adventures, a thrilling way to engage with the forest from a new perspective. More than just a fun challenge, the course encourages physical activity, confidence-building, and deeper appreciation for the ecosystems you’re gliding through.

Walk With The Dinosaurs – Jim Gary’s Twentieth Century Dinosaurs is more than an exhibit: it’s a one-of-a-kind fusion of art and science. These vibrant sculptures, crafted from salvaged auto parts, invite reflection on creativity, ingenuity, and the enduring wonder of the natural world.

Unplug and Explore – Sometimes, the most powerful connection is the simplest one: fresh air, winding trails, and a day spent outdoors. Our grounds offer a chance to unplug from screens and stress, while connecting with nature, history, and each other. Whether it’s a spring picnic or a quiet walk, moments like these are where lifelong memories—and deeper community ties—begin.
