Hawks Thabo-Sefolosha

NEW YORK — After setting a franchise-record for wins in a regular season, two Atlanta Hawks players were arrested in New York on charges of obstructing governmental administration.

The Hawks had just defeated the Phoenix Suns in Atlanta before boarding a plane for New York where they will face the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.  Also in New York were the Indiana Pacers, who are to face the New York Knicks also on Wednesday.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha were arrested early Wednesday morning and charged.  Reports say the two players were present when Indiana Pacers player Chris Copeland, 31, was stabbed in the abdomen and his wife, Katrine Saltara, 28, slashed during an argument at a New York nightclub.  They were attacked by Shezoy Bleary, 22.  That information comes from a report in the New York Daily News.  Another woman, Catherine Somani, 53, was also stabbed, according to the report.

Reports state that Antic and Sefolosha were arrested for trying to prevent police from setting up a crime scene.  Reports did not state whether the two were actually involved in the incident or argument Copeland had with Bleary.  The incident reportedly occurred around 4 am Wednesday.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution report states the Hawks organization is aware of the incident and in the process of gathering more information.
