VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Police Department has arrested a Valdosta male in connection to the shooting investigation of two brothers.

Release:

Arrested: Isaiah Miles, African American male, 22 years of age, Valdosta resident

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 10:35 am., numerous first responders responded to the 700 block of East Mary Street, after a citizen called E911 and stated that he had been shot.  When Valdosta Police Officers responded to the area, they found two brothers, who are in their late 30s, with gunshot wounds.  They immediately rendered first aid, until the Valdosta Fire Department and EMTs with South Georgia Medical Center Emergency Medical Services arrived.  The two brothers were transported to South Georgia Medical Center.  One male received non-life-threatening injuries, while the other is currently in critical condition.

Witnesses described that an African American male, tall and thin, wearing dark pants and a white shirt was seen running from the area.  Other witnesses described seeing tattoos on his face.

Since the shooting, detectives have continued to analyze surveillance video located in the area.

On July 14, 2024, Valdosta Police Officers received a tip that the person who was involved in this shooting was walking in the area of the 1300 block of Ponderosa Drive. The caller further advised that he had the firearm with him. Officers quickly arrived in the area and observed Isaiah Miles, 22 years of age, who matched the description given by the tipster. He was quickly detained. Officers also located the firearm in the area where they made contact with Miles.

Detectives responded and interviewed Miles. Through investigation, Miles was identified as being involved in the shooting. Miles was transported to Lowndes County Jail and he has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault (felony), 2 counts of aggravated battery (felony), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (felony).

“We are grateful for the continued tips that have come to us from citizens. I am proud of the response of our officers, who followed up quickly with this specific tip. It resulted in a dangerous offender being taken off of our streets.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.

Both victims are still receiving treatment and are in stable condition.

This investigation is still ongoing and further charges are pending.
