VALDOSTA – A Virginia man has been arrested after sharing sexually explicit photos with a 7-year-old girl in Valdosta.

Release:

Arrested: Kyle Flores, Hispanic male, 22 years of age, resident in Fairfax County, VA

On June 21, 2024, a citizen reported to the Valdosta Police Department that she had seen inappropriate contact on her 7-year-old niece’s telephone.  She told officers that she had observed sexually explicit photographs from an adult male that were sent to her niece, as well as photos from the niece that were sent to the male. When questioning her niece, the niece disclosed that she had met the male, later identified as Kyle Flores, 22 years old, on an app called “Monkey Cool”.

Valdosta Police Department Detectives immediately began working with the Child Advocacy Center, where the child was interviewed.  Detectives worked with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, along with the Fairfax County, Virginia ICAC unit.  Through investigation, detectives identified Flores, who lives in Springfield, Virginia, as being the male who sent the child sexually explicit photos.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Flores for:

  • Obscene internet contact with a child-felony;
  • Sexually explicit conduct of a minor-felony;
  • Child molestation-felony; and
  • Furnishing obscene material to a minor-felony.

After Valdosta Police Department detectives obtained the arrest warrants, they contacted the Fairfax County Virginia Police Department, who executed a search warrant and served the arrest warrants on Flores.  Flores is being held in Fairfax County, Virginia, awaiting extradition to Lowndes County.

“This was outstanding teamwork by numerous agencies to get this sexual predator into custody.  If your children have smartphones, please pay attention to the apps that they have on their phones.  If you see the Monkey Cool app, know that it is being used by sexual predators to find child victims and you need to contact law enforcement.  Keep monitoring your children’s phones and know what apps they have access to.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
