VALDOSTA – Two Valdosta juveniles have been arrest by the Valdosta Police Department for attempted robbery at gunpoint.

Release:

Arrested 1: Juvenile male 15 years of age, Valdosta resident
Arrested 2: Juvenile male 16 years of age, Valdosta resident

On December 15, 2023, at approximately 4:20 pm., Valdosta Police Officers responded to the 600 block of East Hill Avenue, after a 59-year-old male reported that two males had attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The victim stated that he was sitting in his vehicle when the two males approached him. One of the males produced a handgun and demanded money from him. The victim reported that the males ran away from the vehicle, before officers arrived on the scene.

A Valdosta Police Department K9 Unit responded to the area and was used to track the offenders. The K9 located the two offenders, who were both male juveniles, hiding in bushes. One offender was 15 years of age, and the other was 16 years of age. When the K9 alerted, the offenders ran again on foot. After a short foot pursuit, officers detained both of the juveniles without any further incident.

The victim identified both of the juveniles as being the two offenders that attempted to rob him.

Both juveniles were arrested for aggravated assault-attempt to rob. The Department of Juvenile Justice detained them at a Regional Youth Detention Center.

“This was great teamwork between our officers and the K9. Their teamwork resulted in these two offenders being apprehended quickly.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
