VALDOSTA, Ga. – St. John the Evangelist Catholic School (SJCS) recently honored its students, teachers, and faculty members at an end of the year awards ceremony. During the ceremony, the school’s Teacher of the Year, Staff Member of the Year and Eagle Students were announced.
SJCS Faculty and staff recognized Computer teacher Wanda Colyer with the 2019 Teacher of the Year Award.

Extended Day and Lunchroom Director Bethanie Bass was awarded the Staff Member of the Year award, as voted on by the school’s faculty and staff.

The Leona Abood Volunteer Award is presented to a member of the SJCS community who has honored the school with their extraordinary service and friendship. This year, the award was given to two volunteers, Bethanie Bass and Andrew Thomas.

The Eagle Award is the school’s highest honor, given to one student in each grade level each semester who demonstrates exemplary Christian character, perfect attendance and a positive appearance. This year’s recipients are: Jett Nixon, Christian Morash, Khloe Kalinowski, Adeline Morash, Samuel Nelson, Randa Gladwin, Camila Hernandez, and Dennis Savoie.
