Letter to the Editor: Ty Davis
I served my time in support of the Ideals that make the United States of America the great country that it is. I knowingly signed my life over to give everyone the right to fly our flag high, to allow whoever wants to drape there body with the flag and those who want to desecrate it. I fought for you to be able too do so, that’s the concept but being patriotic vs desecrating flag is unacceptable. This is the truth for every proud American because the flag is a symbol, it is as precious as any national monument an needs to be protected as so. The ideals that it represents can not be tarnished by time nor man, that is what I gave my life to serve for. So why is nothing being done about black students making threats on white students. Why is it that a group of white students are expelled for singing a racial song, but black students making threats or being racism them self get a pass do to potential backlash. This was never a issue about race until a black person made it so, I will not stand for this I served with blacks, whites, yellows an browns; there all my family. The past is the past an needs to be left as so, we all can argue about who own who first; blacks, Jews, whites, we where all slaves at one point. The underlying issue was how our flag was being treated to make a statement, now that statement has lead to a whole new issue that is growing.
Under Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover “”domestic,”” as opposed to international, terrorism. A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act “”dangerous to human life”” that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping. Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism.
So again I ask why is nothing being done, why is it I call the VSU campus and I get the toss around, why is it I call the VSU police department and I get the toss around. This is unprofessional this is a disgrace, I seek justice you all ask for equal rights that means equal punishment as well. Sincerely from an American Vet
I have a petition going around to make the flag protected like a national monument..
