Love stinks. Though many through time have agreed with that statement, few had quantitative facts to back it up— until now.
The University of British Colombia hosted a study that showed that smelling a mates used shirt can improve sleep.
In the experiment, a subject would go a 24-hour period without perfume, deodorant, or cologne. When the subject’s mate slept with the pillow encased in their partner’s dirty shirt, they reported an improved quality of sleep. The study reported that the effect of sleeping with a spouse’s body odor-covered shirt can have benefits similar to using melatonin supplements.
