VALDOSTA, Ga. – The lockdown at Valdosta Middle School has been lifted.

UPDATED MESSAGE AT 2:20 PM: The lockdown at Valdosta Middle School has been lifted. Valdosta Police Department alerted school officials that the suspect is no longer in the vicinity of the school.

Again, everyone inside VMS is accounted for and safe.

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta Middle School is currently on lockdown, according to a statement from Valdosta City Schools.

The lockdown is due to an incident happened in a neighboring area and the suspect is still at-large.

Everyone inside VMS is accounted for and safe. The school will remain on lockdown until further notice from authorities.

Valdosta City Schools alerted VMS families about the lockdown via their emergency calling system, website and social media sites around 1:50 p.m. this afternoon.  We will continue to share information hourly or as it becomes available.
