A California state judge made the ruling on Friday stating lawsuits filed against Lyft over the last few months can potentially be combined into one case, according to CNET.

At least 56 lawsuits have been filed against the company since August of 2019. The lawsuits allege that Lyft does not perform adequate background checks on their drivers and does not remove those who have been accused.

Lyft has made some efforts in ensuring the safety of their riders, including continuous background checks, implementing an emergency 911 button and a mandatory “community safety education” course for the drivers.
