VALDOSTA — Wednesday, December 18 was a busy day for law enforcement in Lowndes County.
Around the same time as a shooting that occurred near Barnes Drugs in the downtown area, a high-speed chase that began on Interstate 75 with the Georgia State Patrol was also causing a ruckus.
At 11:08 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol Post 31, a trooper tried to stop a driver on I-75 for a traffic violation but he refused to pull over. A chase ensued in the southbound lanes of I-75 until he exited recklessly, and continued onto Madison Highway.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jordan Anthony Luke of Zephyrhills, Fla.,
At the intersection of Madison Highway and South Patterson Street, Luke hit the back end of another vehicle, according to authorities.
No one was injured.

About half an ounce of marijuana was reportedly found in Luke’s vehicle, along with digital scales. Luke was booked into the Lowndes County Jail.
Two other passengers were in Luke’s vehicle, including an infant.
Luke has been charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, possession of a controlled substance, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign and driving without a license.
Many were confused thinking that the shooting at the chase were related.
