WARE CO, Ga. – The Waycross Police Department said Saturday, October 26, 2019, a man fired off several rounds in a Walmart before turning the gun on himself.

WPD reported the suspect has been identified as John Jaylen Walker Kinnitt, 19, of Waycross.

Around 1 a.m. WPD officers received a report there was an active shooter on the scene at the Waycross Walmart located at 2425 Memorial Drive.

When officers arrived and began searching for him he was located quickly. Kinnitt shot himself at that point, police said, and was rushed to the hospital but died there.

The investigation is open and anyone who knows anything should come forward.
