VALDOSTA – Several community groups teamed up Saturday with Habitat for Humanity to clean Tom Park and add an “EduScape.”

The park clean up was the result of a grant received by Habitat for Humanity to work with residents of the community do participate in a project.

“The residents chose to clean up Tom Park and put in a new ‘EduScape,’ said Molly Ferrier with Habitat for Humanity. “We added a World Map, Georgia Map, Hopscotch, and Grid to play games on.  On Saturday, we cleaned the park and then had a cook out and invited all of the local residents to enjoy the  cook out. The project was a huge success and really helped clean up, and get some attention to Tom Park.”

Habitat for Humanity partnered with the City of Valdosta, the Valdosta Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority, Valdosta City Schools, V&R Construction, Living Bridges Ministries, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College and Reames Concrete.

Colson Business Solutions provided the grill and Sunset Farm Foods provided the sausages.

“This project has been months in the making and I believe we really added some great activities for the kids in the neighborhood,” Ferrier said.
