VALDOSTA – Valdosta police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred Thursday and Friday.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., the Valdosta Police Department responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Eli Place in reference to a report of gunfire. An unknown person or persons fired a weapon from a vehicle, striking the residence. No one was injured, according to reports.

“Multiple shots were fired at the house,” said VPD Chief Brian Childress. “We believe the house was targeted for a specific reason, and the Gang Task Force is looking into the incident along with our Narcotics Unit.”

Investigators have identified the vehicle but are not releasing that information to the public, Childress said.

Another shooting took place at around 2:50 a.m. on Friday at a residence on Shanna Circle. Residents reportedly fought against offenders attempting to break into the home, Childress said.

“Multiple subjects tried to get inside the house, and the residents fought them off,” Childress said. “The suspects left the scene and fired shots at the house, but no one was hit.”

Investigators do not believe the incidents are related but do believe they are connected to drug and connected gang activity.
