VALDOSTA – Two people were taken to the hospital after a car was hit by a train in Valdosta.
According to Valdosta police, a car ran out of gas on train tracks in the 800 block of South Fry Street Thursday morning.
A good Samaritan stopped to help, and was able to help get the stranded vehicle out of the way, but his car was hit by a train as he was trying to move it, sending it into a ditch.
He and another passenger were taken to South Georgia Medical Center for minor injuries.
Police say the accident is still under investigation.
