VALDOSTA – The manager of a Valdosta pizza restaurant is behind bars after allegedly stealing nearly $7,000 from the business.
Daniel MacDonald, 41, was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office on Friday following an investigation into the theft of money from Marco’s Pizza at 4320 Kings Way, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk.
MacDonald allegedly took money from nightly deposits and used proceeds from the next day to cover the missing money, a form of embezzlement known as kiting, Paulk said.
“Of course, it was like a snowball. Every time he would take a little bit more, and the snowball got larger,” Paulk said.
MacDonald has been charged with theft by taking $6,890 from Marco’s Pizza, according to LCSO incident reports.
MacDonald is currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail on $7,500 bond, reports stated.
