LOWNDES CO. – Local responders participated in emergency training exercises on Tuesday.

Each year, Lowndes County Emergency Management, works with public safety agencies to plan training exercises for local first responders.  The first planning/training event for 2017, was held this morning at the Lowndes County Emergency Operations Center.

Local responders representing 911, fire, law enforcement, EMS, public health, Georgia Emergency Management, the Valdosta Regional Airport, TSA, and public information, met to conduct scenario based training that is drafted to evaluate response, coordination, communication, and resource performance, so that any deficiencies identified can be considered and addressed.

“Training of this type is important to local agencies in that relationships are built that allow for a more efficient response to any emergency or disaster that might occur in our community,” said Emergency Management Director, Ashley Tye.
