VALDOSTA – Just a week ado, a 3-year-old boy was fighting for his life, after being ran over by a float at the annual Valdosta Christmas Parade.

A GoFundMe account has been set up, and identifies the boy as London Herring.

“All of the sudden, it’s just like the nightmare began and it was horrible,” says Nikita Berrian, the GoFundMe organizer.

She has 3 children who go to Coastal Plains with London.

“Kayden saw it,” says Berrian. “When she saw it, she saw everything.”

She says her daughter sat right next to London, was the only child to witness what Berrian calls the ‘worst scene you can image’.

Police say that scary accident happened at the corner of Patterson and Webster Street.

Now, one week later, family and friends are happy to hear the little boy is fighting for recovery.

“He just continues to improve everyday. He’s doing something better everyday.”

Berrian says she set up the GoFundMe account for London’s medical expenses, but never expected the flood of support.

In five days, more than $2,500 was raised online.

A $500 donation was made from Valdosta’s Christmas Parade Committee.

The Valdosta Police Department has also agreed to match the donation by donating $500 in gifts and other needs for the family.

“A little bit does add up to be a lot when you have an army behind you.”

London’s army — the support from an entire community.
