VALDOSTA – An alleged Valdosta burglar is behind bars, and now detectives are working on possible links between the suspect and other incidents.

On Tuesday, Nov. 1 at approximately 9 a.m., the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Tiffany Place in reference to a burglary after a woman who had returned home from running errands came face to face with an unknown man who had broken into her house, said LCSO Capt. Stryde Jones.

“Deputies arrived within minutes and began calling for the person to exit the home, which he did and was arrested,” Jones said. “Deputies continued their investigation and found that several vehicles in the neighborhood had been entered and at least one more home was burglarized during the night while the occupants slept. Detectives have continued this investigation, including the recovery of property and attempting to identify the owners of that property.”

Todd Shealy, 22, was charged with burglary and entering an auto with the intent to commit a theft, reports stated. Shealy was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

LCSO detectives are now working with the Valdosta Police Department on possible related incidents, and additional charges may be forthcoming, said Jones.

“This could have been a very dangerous situation for the homeowner,” said Sheriff Chris Prine. “Thank God it ended with everyone safe. I am thankful the victim was able to remain calm and call for help. She did a fantastic job.”
