JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Lanier County Schools was off Monday for fall break, but instead of relaxing during the time off, members of the Bulldogs football team traveled to Jacksonville to help with Hurricane Matthew clean up efforts.

Forty students helped remove debris and clean up yards for elderly residents in Jacksonville.

Coach Carl Parker told WALB, “”One of the biggest things we wanted was to have an opportunity to give kids the opportunity to serve other people. We’ve been talking a lot on our team about what it means to be selfless and what it means to be a part of a team and we try to use the game of football to teach kids about the game of life.”
