LOWNDES CO. – Thirteen students were transported for medical treatment following a wreck involving a Lowndes County school bus on Interstate 75 Monday afternoon.

Lowndes County Schools Bus 0908 which transfers students from Lowndes High School to Lowndes Middle School was involved in a vehicle accident on I-75 south of Exit 16, according to a released statement from Lowndes County Schools.
“We are waiting for the final report from authorities on the accident. No students were life-flighted, although we are grateful that life flight responded to the scene. Thirteen were transported to SGMC for treatment,” stated the release.
The Georgia State Patrol is on the scene and issued a statement:
“All lanes are blocked at this time, and Lowndes County has units on scene at this time as well. EMS is en route due to multiple injuries, unknown number of children on the bus and unknown number of injuries as well.”
