VALDOSTA – A Valdosta State Prison employee was arrested Sunday for allegedly attempting to supply inmates with prohibited items.

Gale Gillard was arrested and accused of attempting to bring tobacco into the prison. Gillard was reportedly asked to remove her socks after failing a metal detector check at a security checkpoint. Guards then found loose cigarettes and a lighter in her socks, according to reports.

Gillard was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
