
There is a new superintendent of schools in Colquitt County. The members of the Board of Education selected Doug Howell who was named as the interim superintendent last month. He had served as director of student services since 2014.
33 year old Sabrina Pittman was arrested by officers in Thomasville. Acting on a tip regarding the delivery of drugs a stakeout was set-up and the Narcotics/Vice Division investigators awaited Pittman’s arrival. A search pf her vehicle turned up crystal methamphetamine, there was more of the drug inside her purse, and upon her arrival at the Thomas County Jail, officers found more meth in Pittman’s’ undergarments. She faces possession and distribution charges.
Crystal Viar age 24 ran afoul of law enforcement officers as they searched a Russell Road residence for stolen property. Another female managed to make it to a car as police arrived and fled the scene; Viar ran inside the house where officers discovered methamphetamine, and tools for smoking and injecting the drug; multiple charges were filed against Viar.
The City of Valdosta will hold three public hearings for consideration of an Ordinance to adopt the tax millage rate. The first hearing takes place at 12 noon today in Council Chambers at City Hall, the second public forum will take place at 6 p.m. this evening at City hall, and the last hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. August 25th in Council Chambers. The public is encouraged to attend.
