VALDOSTA – A Valdosta florist is bring smiles to people’s faces one flower at a time.
Tuesday morning, all the residents at Heritage House Nursing Home received flowers.
Senior citizens were surprised with white and yellow daisies in a smiling mug, which can only mean one thing.
Susan Mullis, owner of The Flower Gallery in Valdosta, says it’s National Make Someone Smile Week.
On Tuesday, she handed out 150 arrangements.
This is her 9th year teaming up with Teleflora to make people smile.
“It gratifies you so much in your heart to see these people so appreciative and you can tell they haven’t had flowers in a while”, says Mullis. “It really means a lot to them.”
It means a lot to people like Tillie Johnson, whose been at the nursing home for more than four years.
“It even make this feel more like home that somebody cares about what’s going on”, says Johnson.
She says she’s never received a gift like this, especially one that smiles back.
“I’m going to enjoy them and look at them and smile. When they’re all gone I’ll say I’m sorry, I have to put you aside and I’ll keep the cup and still smile.”
More than a thousand florists across the country are also getting involved.
Teleflora says over 30,000 bouquets will be delivered this week.
