MOODY AFB – Moody Air Force Base recognized an airmen for his contribution to efforts in Europe to strengthen the collective security of NATO allies.

Capt. William Piepenbring, 74th Fighter Squadron, was coined by Col Thomas Kunkel, 23d Wing commander, for his contributions in Bulgaria which aided in Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Piepenbring was in charge of initiating and conducting a basic Forward Area Refueling Point operation at an abandoned Soviet airfield.

With the help of the 67th Special Operations Squadron’s MC-130J’s out of RAF Mildenhall and the 321st Special Tactics Squadron they helped demonstrate the continued U.S. commitment to collective security with NATO allies in the region.
