VALDOSTA – The Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate a Thursday afternoon high-speed chase on Interstate 75.

At approximately 6:34 p.m., GSP Troopers began a vehicle pursuit on I-75 northbound near Mile Marker 20 in Lowndes County. The one vehicle chase continued until a trooper used a Precision Immobilication Technique (PIT maneuver) near Mile Marker 27, said GSP Cpl. Chris Kelch.

“There was at least one injury as a result of the subsequent crash after the PIT. No law enforcement or civilians were injured in the pursuit and no damage was reported other than to the suspect’s vehicle and the patrol car,” Kelch said.

One lane of I-75 northbound was closed for approximately one hour after the wreck.

“Due to certain aspects of the investigation, this pursuit will warrant a further investigation,” Kelch said.

GSP has not released any further details about the incident but is expect provide more information by Monday.
