GINNIE SPRINGS, Fla. – A Moody Air Force Base airman has died while off-duty in Flordia, according to base officials who released the following statement on Sunday:

Today, officials were notified that an Airman assigned to Moody Air Force Base passed away near Ginnie Springs, Fla., while off duty.

Local authorities are conducting an initial investigation and updates will be made as they become available. Additionally, the name of the deceased is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification.

“It is a great loss to us all when we lose a member of our Air Force family. Team Moody and I extend our deepest condolences and prayers to family and friends during this difficult time,” said Col. Thomas Kunkel, 23d Wing commander.
