LOWNDES Co. – Work began Monday to repair a portion of Carter Way that was washed out during an early April storm, essentially stranding residents.

Lowndes County was prohibited from repairing the private road until its owners granted an easement, which was signed more than a month after the storm.

The project could take up to three weeks to complete.
