VALDOSTA – Dozens of people sang and celebrated, remembering the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday in Valdosta.

“In America all lives matter and the church says, ‘amen’.”

Every year on April 4th, the community gathers at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park to remember his dream.

“His dream is still alive, and we want to keep his dream alive by doing things in the community and helping others”, says Patricia McRae, with the Valdosta-Lowndes County Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Committee. “We want to impact our young community to do the best that they can do.”

The Commemoration Committee says the event is also to encourage others to continue living out his message for peace and equality.
