VALDOSTA – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a flood advisory for Lowndes and Brooks Counties until 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
At 5:21 a.m., NWS radar indicated another round of moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall moving through the area. Rainfall amounts of three to five inches have occurred overnight across portions of Brooks and Lowndes.
The additional rainfall is expected to result in areas of minor flooding. Some ponding of water on roadways has already been reported in Brooks County, according to NWS.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads.
