VALDOSTA – A family of four was displaced Saturday afternoon after a fire destroyed their home.

At 3:25 p.m., the Valdosta Fire Department responded to a home at 320 Virginia Avenue, said VFD Capt. James Clinkscales.

“Fire personnel arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and flame extending from 80 percent of the structure,” Clinkscales said. “Seventeen firefighters responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire quickly.”

No injuries were reported in the blaze with caused an estimated $20,000 worth of damage to a property valued at $29,700, reports stated.

Four family members were displaced by the fire and have received assistance from the Red Cross.
