VALDOSTA – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about movie prop money being used for purchases.
LCSO Capt. Stryde Jones said several communities in the South Georgia and North Florida area are having issues with fake $100 bills.
“These fake bills are produced as movie and picture props and are often purchased over the internet,” Jones said. “It seems people are using these bills to make small purchases at business and receiving authentic money in return.”
The counterfeits look similar to actual $100 bills but have the phrase “Motion Picture Use Only” printed on both sides.
Anyone with information about these bills can contact LCSO at (229) 671-2950. Anonymous tips can be provided at (229) 671-2985 or online at www. lowndessheriff.com.
