Law enforcement officials in Adel are searching for a suspect who robbed a man and his wife at gunpoint. The suspect is identified as 28 year old Donte Glauvitz and the site of his criminal activity was the Adel Holiday market on Hutchinson. At the time of the robbery the unidentified man and his wife were the only customers inside the business. Glauvitz is considered a dangerous fugitive.

A car traveling behind a school bus failed to stop and rear-ended the empty bus with only the driver aboard. The incident happened on Inner Perimeter Road near Jaycee Shack Road. The driver of the school bus had stopped at a railroad crossing when the crash occurred and was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.

Thanks to the quick and efficient work of a Valdosta Police officer and their K-9 partner 24 year old Marin Pettiford was captured as he fled the scene of a parking lot robbery that took place at the Valdosta Mall. According to the report two employees were confronted by Pettiford who took a bank bag and cell phones, then fled on foot. The K-9 was released by the police officer and the suspect was quickly apprehended and suffered a bite to his leg. Pettiford was taken to the hospital for treatment. The bank bag and phones were recovered.

Speaking at the annual breakfast sponsored by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce that kicks-off the 2016 legislative session, Governor Nathan Deal stressed the need for expansion of scholarship programs offered to students who attend technical colleges who are taking courses in high job demand fields. Among the fields of study highlighted was industrial maintenance, child-care, commercial truck driving and welding. The governor also put lawmakers on notice that cuts to the tax breaks offered to the film and television industry in Georgia would not be acceptable as they generate millions of dollars for the state’s economy.
