Suspect Killed linked to Crisp Robberies

CORDELE — Reports state the suspect wanted in several Cordele robberies has been killed in a Florida shoot-out with law enforcement.

WALB is reporting Michael Hilber, 29, was killed in a shoot-out with law enforcement in Brooksville, Florida during the armed robbery of a Dollar General store.  A second suspect was apprehended during the robbery without incident.

Hilber has been named by Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock as the suspect related to the robbery of a Subway restaurant and an O’Reilly’s auto parts store in December in Cordele.  Florida Department of Law Enforcement notified Hancock of similar robberies in Hernando County and upon examination of evidence found, linked Hilber to incidents in both areas.

Hilber was shot and killed by authorities on December 23rd.  Among the evidence discovered linking Hilber to the Cordele robberies included the vehicle and clothing items recovered by sheriff’s deputies in Florida.
