LAKE CITY — A vehicle struck a Lake City man earlier this week, critically injuring him.

Lanny Dean Beard, 55, was standing in the road when he was struck by a car, driven by Teresa Durden Oplinger, 61 of Lake City.

Beard was transported by helicopter to UF Health Shands Hospital in critical condition.  The incident occurred on County Road 252B north of Troy Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

According to the report, Beard was standing in the southbound lane.  Oplinger was driving her car south, didn’t see Beard, and struck him with the right front of her car.
