THOMASVILLE — Officials with the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office will soon have additional new vehicles added to their fleet.
WCTV is reporting the department is buying four new Dodge Chargers and four new Dodge Durangos.
The sheriff’s office says in the report it was not planning to add to its fleet, but the need for more vehicles was realized after they searched rough, muddy and thick woods for a downed plane earlier in November.
Deputies say that cars are great days, but sometimes they just don’t know where they might end up.
“Thomas County is somewhat rural still,” Captain Steve Jones of the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office said. ” Our Job is where ever in the county we need to go, and you could just not go where we needed to go to eliminate that aircraft.”
The new vehicles will cost the county a little more than $360,000.
