A Victim of Echols County Accident Dies

STATENVILLE — The Georgia State Patrol has provided an update on the victims of the tragic head-on accident which occurred in Echols County last weekend.  Two vehicles struck head-on on J Frank Culpepper Road resulting in multiple serious injuries.

The front-seat passenger of the Chevrolet Malibu, Reymundo Ramos Chilel, 35, has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. Mr. Chilel was pronounced dead by Medical Examiner Anthony Clark Friday at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Next of kin for Mr. Chilel have been notified in Guatemala.

Other injury updates include the driver of the Malibu, Filadelfo Martin Perez, who is currently in stable condition and improving at South Georgia Medical Center.

Passenger of the Malibu, Alberto Hernandez is still in critical condition at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Other passengers of the Malibu include:  Mario Martin Perez, Justin Lopez and Pedro Lopez who have all been discharged from Shands Hospital.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, Clifford Daniel Hadley, has been discharged from South Georgia Medical Center. This investigation was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.  Alcohol was reported involved as a cause of the accident, though final results are pending.
