VALDOSTA — Littering and a sweet tooth led police to the arrest of a thief wanted in connection with two burglaries on Park Avenue in Valdosta.
Last Friday, a report was received by Valdosta Police regarding the forcible entry into a residence in the 1300 block of West Park Avenue. The victim reported several electronic items taken.
Then, the following Saturday, police received another report in the same block of Park Avenue, though this time, in addition to electronics, the thief stole candy.
As officers investigated, they noticed candy wrappers had left a trail, which they followed. As they spoke with residents in the neighborhood, officers discovered the stolen electronics in a residence and returned the items to the victim. Further, the thief lived in the residence where the items were recovered.
A minor was charged and transported to the Regional Detention Center.
No word on if any of the candy was also recovered.
