VALDOSTA — The deposits of the Dollar General at 7290 Bemiss Road were taken in what deputies describe as a “robbery by sudden snatching.”
Thursday afternoon, an employee of the Dollar General was leaving the store with some of the day’s deposits when the employee was rushed by a male suspect. The incident occurred as the employee entered a car and attempted to close the door.
Reports from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s office note the suspect rushed up and stopped her from closing the door, grabbed the bag containing the store’s deposits, and fled on foot behind the business.
The victim attempted chase of the suspect but loss him.
A county canine unit was also called in and tracked the suspect for some time before losing the scent.
A description of the suspect was provided. He is listed as a young, black male wearing knee length shorts and a dark blue shirt with silver or grey. He was last seen driving toward Lakeland on Hwy 122.
