AMERICUS — Excessive rain in and near Americus has created flooding issues the community is struggling to handle.

Rains and flooding caused evacuations of residents at an apartment complex, fallen trees that blocked roads, and power outages.

WALB reported eight apartments blocked by flood waters requiring Fire and EMT evacuation. Another family reported up to 4 inches of rain inside their home. Trees were down all over town, causing power outages and falling onto structures.
