VALDOSTA — A traffic stop by the Georgia State Patrol resulted in the arrest of two

Thursday afternoon, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Cothron and his K9 Brutus were working on I-75 southbound near the GA-31 overpass (exit 11) in Lowndes County.  Cothron observed a white Jeep Compass in the left lane of I-75 traveling southbound and clocked his speed at 84 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour zone.

Cothron stopped the vehicle for the speeding violation and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the occupants and the vehicle was conducted, with Cothron locating 5 small bags of crack cocaine in one of the occupants left cargo pocket.

Further, located inside two suitcases were 4 vacuum sealed bags of marijuana with an approximate total weight of 4 lbs. Almost $5,000 was also seized.

The stop resulted in the arrest of two US Virgin Island citizens for Felony Possession charges and the seizure of approximately $6,000 worth of marijuana, approximately $50 worth of crack cocaine, and the US Currency.

The driver, Rudolph Maduro, 25, was charged with Speeding and Felony Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. A passenger, Jeveon Trotman, 24, was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Felony Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute.
