VALDOSTA — Leadership Lowndes held their annual alumni social on Thursday, August 20 at Cotton Corner in downtown Valdosta. Each year the organization gathers to celebrate past successes and to continue networking with classmates that are now considered friends. This year they had another great reason to celebrate, the unveiling of a new logo.

A logo design contest was conducted encouraging locals to submit prospective designs to replace the original logo that was established over 25 years ago. Dozens of submissions were received and the board of trustees narrowed the options down before finally choosing the design of Bob Harrison. The new logo was met with a huge round of applause and he was awarded $400 for having the winning entry.

President Joe Belson also announced the opening of the nomination window. The Class of 2016 will consist of 30 individuals who reside in Lowndes County, are at least 25 years old, are interested in giving back to their community and show obvious leadership potential. Nominations can be made by visiting http://leadershiplowndes.com/news/call-for-nominations/.
