THOMASVILLE — The death of a 19-month old infant Wednesday has been ruled an accident by Thomas County authorities.

Reports state the victim, young Dallas Beltran, used a chair to climb onto a counter to reach for a snack located on top of the refrigerator.  Instead, he fell and was stuck between the refrigerator and the kitchen counter.

Authorities stated in news reports that the gap was less than a foot wide.  That was enough room to trap the young child, but not enough to allow him to call for help.

When his family found him, he was unresponsive and didn’t know how long he had been trapped.  He was found by his 5-year old sister.

He was rushed to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville where he was later pronounced dead.

The child’s parents were at home at the time of the accident and will not face any charges at this time.  However, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case.
