LEESBURG — In his first appearance hearing, the man charged with the murder of his physician wife had his bond denied.

Yathomas Riley is charged with aggravated assault, malice murder, and felony murder.

Prosecutors brought the murder charges on Monday as the investigation into the death of Riley’s wife, Dr. Lisa Riley, 34.  She was found dead in her home with a gunshot wound to the head on July 10th.

Yathomas Riley was taken into custody on the same day initially for unrelated charges.  However, that was enough to hold him as more evidence was collected involving the murder.

According to WALB, an incident report from June 14th stated Riley was arrested for aggravated assault.

In the report, the victim, Lisa Riley, described to Lee County Sheriff’s deputies how her husband accused her of cheating, then made her get down on her knees while he held a .44 magnum to her head.

As a condition of his bond from that case, Yathomas Riley was not allowed to have guns inside his home.  At the time of the murder, guns were found in Riley’s home.

He was arrested for violating that condition on the day his wife was found dead before being charged for the murder of his wife.
